Temporal soil net installation
The doctoral students of the Vienna Doctoral Programme on Water Resource Systems, are currently installing the temporal soil net again at the HOAL fields.
The soil net sensors had to be removed from the fields for a short period due to the farmes were cultivating the fields for the next season.
The sensors are installed in a depth of -5, -10, -20 and -50cm and will stay there until autumn, where the fields will be harvested again.
Mobile eddy maintenance
Today Borbala Szeles, student from the DK on water resource systems, is in the HOAL fields to collect data from the mobile eddy covariance stations and to do some maintenance works.
Even if less evapotranspiration is happening in this time of the year the devices are running the whole time to collect data of the catchment.
Deep borehole groundwater sampling
Today again Lovrenc Pavlin and Markus Oismüller were operating the groundwater sampling at the groundwater wells from the deep boreholes in the HOAL catchment. In an interval of 2 months this sampling is taking place in the HOAL at the 8 deep wells in the catchment. The samples are analysed for chemical parameters and their isotopic signature.
[mehr]Preparing temporal soil net for next season
The temporal soil net is currently prepared and checked for the next installation in the HOAL fields. As soon as the farmers will be finished with the tillage of their land the 11 temporal soil net stations will in addition with the 20 permanent stations measure the soil moisture in the HOAL in 4 different depths with a resolution of 30 minutes.
[mehr]European network of hydrological observatories (ENOHA)
Recently the homepage of the European network of hydrological observatories - short 'ENOHA' was launched. The aims of ENOHA are to create a network of well-instrumented and monitored hydrological observatories and to ensure a close cooperation between several European research institutions.
The linked catchments are the TERENO catchments in Germany, the HOBE catchment in Denmark, and the HOAL catchment in Austria. Data series of key hydrological fluxes and states in high quality based on a common data policy from these catchments will be provided within this project.
