New Ph.D. students in the HOAL 2.0 project

The collaboration between the Federal Agency for Water Management and the Technical University Vienna has two new contributors: Dusan Majdanovic and Christopher Thoma started the work towards their doctoral degree in the HOAL 2.0 project.

The Federal Office for Water Management and the TU Vienna is pleased to welcome two new PhD students to its team. These two will work on the HOAL2.0 project on the reduction of pluvial floods through optimized land management. The aim of this project is to develop the methodological basis for an integrative management of agricultural land in order to make an effective contribution to landscape water retention and thus to the reduction of pluvial runoff extremes.

Dusan Majdanovic

Dušan holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree from the University of Belgrade, Faculty of Civil Engineering. Before starting his PhD at TU Vienna, he worked for two years in the Department of Surface Water Hydrology and Hydraulics at Jaroslav Černi Water Institute in Belgrade, Serbia. His interests lie in the field of hydrology, hydrological modeling and hydroinformatics.

Christopher Thoma

Christopher completed his Bachelor's and Master's degree at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna. In his work towards the doctoral degree, he will focus on agricultural soil protection measures to reduce sediment discharge during runoff extremes, in particular the effect of a grassed flow path created in April 2023.

The Federal Office for Water Management warmly welcomes Dušan Majdanovic and Christopher Thoma and looks forward to their contributions to tackling challenges in water resource management.
